What cut & polish does
Cut & polish (sometimes called paint correction or buff and polish) is a multi-stage process that uses an abrasive compound to remove a microscopic layer of clear coat from your paint. This levels out the surface, eliminating the small imperfections (swirl marks, light scratches, watermarks, oxidation) that cause paint to look dull and tired.
The result is a deeper, glossier finish that catches light the way it did the day the car rolled off the lot. Done properly it is one of the most dramatic visual improvements you can make to a car short of a respray.
Our process
We start with a full decontamination wash and claybar treatment to remove embedded contaminants from the paint. Then a paint depth gauge reading to confirm we have enough clear coat to work with safely. From there we run a multi-stage correction, typically a heavy compound followed by a finishing polish, both applied with a dual-action machine to keep the heat and pressure consistent.
Final step is a wax coat or sealant to protect the freshly polished paint. If you are following up with ceramic coating, we skip the wax and book ceramic for the next day so the paint stays clean for the bonding process.
